Call for Submissions

Submit a proposal for a virtual presentation by 23:59 PT Thursday 14 August

The Conference Steering Committee is accepting submissions for presentation at the virtual 2025 Canadian Conference on Tobacco and Nicotine. Our goal is to present an integrated scientific program of research, policy and practice perspectives that encourages delegates and presenters to connect, share and learn from each other.

Submissions will be accepted for oral abstracts, 60-minute interactive sessions, and discussion forums,

Proposals may be submitted in either English or French and will be peer-reviewed according to the language of submission. Simultaneous interpretation will not be provided and French submitters must be comfortable presenting in English.

Each individual may submit a maximum of two abstracts as Presenting Author. Abstracts presented at a previous conference are eligible for submission. During the upload process the submitter will be prompted to indicate where the abstract was previously presented and if new data will be presented.

Declaration of Interests

Please note that transparency is a condition of participation at the 2025 Canadian Conference on Tobacco and Nicotine (CCTN25). Before submitting an abstract, submitters must declare that they have no interests, present or in the past in any entity in the tobacco or vaping product industries.

Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) Peoples

CPHA is committed to honouring Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) traditional knowledge, spirituality, practices and data sovereignty throughout our scientific program. During the submission process, all authors must answer if the abstract addresses Indigenous Peoples. If accepted into the scientific program, any session that addresses Indigenous Peoples must be presented or co-presented by a member of the relevant community.

DISCUSSION FORUMS

Suggest a topic and moderate a 30-minute Discussion Forum. Designed as an open forum to engage with a small group of participants, these sessions are an opportunity for a moderator to gather feedback on a specific tobacco or nicotine issue, topic, or area of interest.

Moderators can share text, images, links, and documents to enrich the conversation.

Accepted presentations will be grouped into 60-minute sessions that share a common topic or complimentary theme. Each presentation is 10 minutes followed by a 3-minute discussion period facilitated by a moderator.
