Can presenters use slides?

Presenters may use slides. Each session room is equipped with a projector, laptop, screen, podium, and microphone. Additional equipment such as flip charts and simultaneous interpretation will be available at the presenter’s expense.

Will presentations be made available to delegates after the conference?

All presentations will be made available to delegates following the conference. Presenters may request that their presentation not be posted. 

Do presenters need to register?

Successful presenters must confirm the intent to present by registering before the close of the Early-bird registration to be included in the conference program. Presenters assume all costs related to their attendance at the Conference.  

Presenters must register for a minimum of one (1) day. Exhibitor and sponsor passes CANNOT be used by presenters.

Program Showcase Presenters are not required to register for the conference if they do not plan to attend any other sessions. A special daily registration category will be available for Program Showcase Presenters who are interested in participating in the conference on the day of their presentation.

Oral Presentations

How long is an oral presentation?

An oral presentation is 12 minutes followed by a 3-minute discussion period. Each session will have five presenters grouped together by similar presentation topic.

Program Showcase Presentations

What is a Program Showcase Presentation?

Through storytelling, presenters will illustrate the context and importance of the program to the community, reflect on the impact of the program and lessons learned to date. The story should reflect the authentic experiences of an individual, a team, or the community. The narrative should contain a beginning, middle, and end, characters, and themes that hold interest, like adversity and triumph. Presenters are welcome to use visual aids and/or props.

How long is a Program Showcase presentation?

A program showcase presentation is 15 minutes. Each 90-minute session will be comprised of four presentations grouped together by similar topic or type of program, with time provided for a question period at the end of the session. 

Poster Presentations

When are posters presented?

Presenters will engage with delegates during dedicated poster session on Wednesday 29 April from 13:30 - 15:15.

What size are the poster boards?

Poster boards are 8’ wide x 4’ tall and Velcro receptive. Velcro will be provided on-site.

What are the design and printing specifications for the posters?

Posters must be designed and printed in a landscape layout. We recommend that your poster be printed no larger than 7.5’ wide x 3.75’ tall. 


When does registration open?

Registration is now open.

What food and beverage are provided?

  • Tuesday 28 April: morning coffee, AM and PM nutrition breaks, lunch
  • Wednesday 29 April: morning coffee, AM and PM nutrition break, lunch
  • Thursday 30 April: morning coffee, AM nutrition break, lunch


Organizations are welcome to host a pre-conference session however, the host organization will be responsible for all logistical planning of the session including but not limited to, venue sourcing and room rental, food and beverage requirements, audio visual requirements, event promotion and registration. 

The CPHA Conference Department will include your session on the conference website to encourage participation.

Is Public Health 2020 accredited?

We will seek accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Certificates will be issued upon request after completing the evaluation form following the conference.

Will Wi-Fi be available during the conference?

Free Wi-Fi will be provided. 


Yes. International delegates may require a visa to enter Canada. Visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada Opens in a new window for a list of countries for which visa restrictions apply and other pertinent information you may require to complete. The visa application can take several months. We will not issue formal letters of invitation for visa purposes.

Once your registration is paid, you will receive an electronic confirmation of your registration. We will confirm receipt of payment but this does not represent an invitation for visa purposes.
