Call for submissions
When will the call for submissions open?
When is the deadline for submission?
The deadline to submit an abstract, workshop or symposium proposal is Thursday 7 November before 11:59 pm EST.
When will I know if my abstract is accepted?
Submitters will be notified of abstract selection by 31 December 2019. All communication will be with the submitting author as indicated on the submission.
Do presenters need to register?
Successful presenters must confirm the intent to present by registering before the close of the Early-bird registration to be included in the conference program. Presenters assume all costs related to their attendance at the Conference.
Presenters must register for a minimum of one (1) day. Exhibitor and sponsor passes CANNOT be used by presenters.
How long is an oral presentation?
An oral presentation is 12 minutes followed by a 3-minute discussion period.
Can presenters use slides?
Presenters may use slides. Each session room is equipped with a projector, laptop, screen, podium, and microphone. Additional equipment such as flip charts and simultaneous interpretation will be available at the presenter’s expense.
Will presentations be made available to delegates after the conference?
All presentations, including posters will be made available to delegates following the conference. Presenters may request that their presentation not be posted.
When are posters presented?
Presenters will engage with delegates during dedicated poster session on Wednesday 29 April from 13:30 - 15:30.
What size are the poster boards?
Poster boards are 8’ wide x 4’ tall and Velcro receptive. Velcro will be provided on-site.
What are the design and printing specifications for the posters?
Posters must be designed and printed in a landscape layout. We recommend that your poster be printed no larger than 7.5’ wide x 3.75’ tall.
Why will I need to submit an electronic copy of my poster?
Posters will be on display Tuesday 28 April and Wednesday 29 April. Presenters will engage with delegates during dedicated poster session on Wednesday 29 April from 13:30 - 15:30.
E-poster pods will be on display for the entire for the conference. Delegates will be able to view electronic versions of the posters at their leisure during refreshment breaks and lunch. Guidelines for the electronic format will be issued to presenters upon acceptance.
When does registration open?
Registration will open 1 February 2020.
What food and beverage are provided?
- Tuesday 28 April: morning coffee, AM and PM nutrition breaks, lunch
- Wednesday 29 April: morning coffee, AM nutrition break, lunch
- Thursday 30 April: morning coffee, AM nutrition break, lunch
CAN I HOST A PRE-CONFERENCE SESSION AT PUBLIC HEALTH 2020?
Organizations are welcome to host a pre-conference session however, the host organization will be responsible for all logistical planning of the session including but not limited to, venue sourcing and room rental, food and beverage requirements, audio visual requirements, event promotion and registration.
The CPHA Conference Department will include your session on the conference website to encourage participation.
Is Public Health 2020 accredited?
We will seek accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Certificates will be issued upon request after completing the evaluation form following the conference.
Will Wi-Fi be available during the conference?
Free Wi-Fi will be provided.
CAN INTERNATIONAL DELEGATES REGISTER?
Yes. International delegates may require a visa to enter Canada. Visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada Opens in a new window for a list of countries for which visa restrictions apply and other pertinent information you may require to complete. The visa application can take several months. We will not issue formal letters of invitation for visa purposes.
Once your registration is paid, you will receive an electronic confirmation of your registration. We will confirm receipt of payment but this does not represent an invitation for visa purposes.
