How long is an oral presentation?
An oral presentation is 12 minutes followed by a 3-minute discussion period.
Can presenters use slides?
Presenters may use slides. Each session room is equipped with a projector, laptop, screen, podium, and microphone. Additional equipment such as flip charts and simultaneous interpretation will be available at the presenter’s expense.
Will presentations be made available to delegates after the conference?
All presentations, including posters will be made available to delegates following the conference. Presenters may request that their presentation not be posted.
Do presenters need to register?
Successful presenters must confirm the intent to present by registering before the close of the Early-bird registration to be included in the conference program. Presenters assume all costs related to their attendance at the Conference.
Presenters must register for a minimum of one (1) day. Exhibitor and sponsor passes CANNOT be used by presenters.
When are posters presented?
Presenters will engage with delegates during one of two dedicated poster session on Tuesday 30 April from 13:00 - 14:00 or on Wednesday 1 May from 13:00 - 14:00.
What size are the poster boards?
Poster boards are 8’ wide x 4’ tall and Velcro receptive. Velcro will be provided on-site.
What are the design and printing specifications for the posters?
Posters must be designed and printed in a landscape layout. We recommend that your poster be printed no larger than 7.5’ wide x 3.5’ tall.
Why will I need to submit an electronic copy of my poster?
Posters will be on display Tuesday 30 April and Wednesday 1 May. Presenters will engage with delegates during dedicated poster session on Wednesday 1 May from 15:30 - 17:30.
E-poster pods will be on display for the entire for the conference. Delegates will be able to view electronic versions of the posters at their leisure during refreshment breaks and lunch. Guidelines for the electronic format will be issued to presenters upon acceptance.
When does registration open?
Registration will open in January 2019.
What food and beverage are provided?
- Tuesday 30 April: Morning coffee, AM and PM nutrition breaks, Lunch
- Wednesday 1 May: Morning coffee, AM and PM nutrition breaks, Lunch, Networking reception with poster presenters
- Thursday 2 May: Morning coffee, AM and PM nutrition breaks, Lunch
AS A PUBLIC HEALTH 2019 Registrant, CAN I ATTEND A SESSION HOSTED BY A FORUM?
Due to the limited seating capacity at the Forums, Public Health 2019 delegates are not permitted to attend Forum sessions unless they are a registered Forum delegate. If you wish to attend one day of programming at the Forums, we offer discounted daily rates. At the time of registration, you will be required to select your dates of participation for Public Health 2019 and the Forum of your choice. Space permitting, Public Health 2019 delegates may attend a Forum session of interest, however, this will be confirmed only closer to the events.
CAN I HOST A PRE-CONFERENCE SESSION AT PUBLIC HEALTH 2019?
Organizations are welcome to host a pre-conference session however, the host organization will be responsible for all logistical planning of the session including but not limited to, venue sourcing and room rental, food and beverage requirements, audio visual requirements and registration.
The CPHA Conference Department will promote your session on the conference website to encourage participation.
Is Public Health 2019 accredited?
We will seek accreditation from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Certificates will be issued upon request after completing the evaluation form following the conference.
Will Wi-Fi be available during the conference?
Free Wi-Fi will be provided.
CAN INTERNATIONAL DELEGATES REGISTER?
Yes. International delegates may require a visa to enter Canada. Visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada Opens in a new window for a list of countries for which visa restrictions apply and other pertinent information you may require to complete. The visa application can take several months. We will not issue formal letters of invitation for visa purposes.
Once your registration is paid, you will receive an electronic confirmation of your registration. We will confirm receipt of payment but this does not represent an invitation for visa purposes.
