Ecosystem health: intrinsic to human health and to the prevention of cancer
Prevent Cancer Now is a Canadian organization that promotes policies and programs to eradicate exposures to carcinogens. Following the release of the (US) National Cancer Institute's President's Cancer Panel report focusing on "Reducing Environmental Cancer Risk: What We Can Do Now (PDF: 7.5m)," Prevent Cancer Now communicated with Canadian cancer and health organizations to find out what activities they are doing in this regard.
CPHA, along with the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) and the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC), responded to Prevent Cancer Now and provided comments on the President's Cancer Panel report. The responses show great consistency in our goals and actions, and hopefully will be the basis of moving forward together to achieve a reduction in cancer-causing agents in our environment.
