Canadian Institute for Health Information – Canadian Population Health Initiative (CIHI-CPHI) – CPHI, a part of CIHI, has as its mission to foster a better understanding of factors that affect the health of individuals and communities, and to contribute to the development of policies that reduce inequities and improve the health and well-being of Canadians.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Population and Public Health (CIHR-IPPH) – supports research into the complex interactions that determine health, and its application to improve the health of individuals, communities and global populations. IPPH is one of 13 institutes of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. CIHR is Canada’s major federal funding agency for health research. Its objective is to excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products, and a strengthened Canadian health care system.

National Collaborating Centres (NCC) for Public Health – The National Collaborating Centres for Public Health are a key part of the federal government’s strategy to support public health renewal in Canada. The NCCs build on existing strengths to improve the use of scientific and other knowledge to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Canada’s public health system. They make useful research available and accessible to public health practitioners, foster linkages among researchers, the public health community and other stakeholders, and promote the sharing of knowledge across this network to strengthen public health practice across Canada. They are located in different regions across the country, each one specializing in a priority area.

Public Health Association of Nova Scotia (PHANS) – is a voluntary not-for-profit organization, affiliated with the Canadian Public Health Association. PHANS believes health is a product of a healthy community, healthy economy and healthy environment. By advocating for policy change, our mission is to work towards a society that supports this broad vision of health for Nova Scotia.
