Nunacom is a 7-bit font designed for reading Inuktitut syllabic web pages for both Windows and Macintosh computers. The Nunacom font is FREE to all users.
Download the Nunacom font for WINDOWS 95 or higher
The file is very small (44k). Right Click HERE and choose the “save target as” option. The “Save As” dialogue box will open prompting you to save the file called “nunacom.ttf”. Save it to your desktop.
How to Install the nunacom.ttf file
Now that you have the nunacom.ttf file, you will need to install it in the font directory of your computer.
- Go to the “Start” Menu, choose “Settings,” then “Control Panel”, or just “Control Panel” (depending on your version of Windows).
- When the Control Panel window opens, double-click on “Fonts”.
- When the Fonts window opens, go to the File menu, then select “Install new font”.
- When the “Add Fonts” window appears, use the navigation tools at the bottom of the window to find the file “nunacom.ttf” (refer to your note above for the location of the file). Click on the “nunacom.ttf” file. The “nunacom” font should now appear in the “List of fonts” window.
- Click on “OK.” You’re done.
You may need to restart your browser in order to view the “nunacom” font. However, you should not have to restart your computer.
Download compressed format for MACINTOSH (OS X)
Click HERE to download the compressed font file (40K) to your hard drive. This file is “Zipped" (or compressed). You may need to use a program like “Stuffit Expander" to extract the font. In other words, you may need to use Stuffit to get the font out of its package before you can install it. (Don’t have it? Stuffit Expander is a shareware program that is available for downloading at (www.download.com). After you download and unstuff the file, you will be left with a file called nunacom.ttf.
Installing the Nunacom font MACINTOSH (OS X)
Now that you’ve downloaded the font, you need to install it. Drag or copy and paste the “nunacom” font file to the Library/Fonts folder. To activate the font, restart the application - some applications may require you to restart the computer. The font should now be active in the font menu of your application.
Download compressed format for MACINTOSH (Classic)
Click HERE to download the compressed font file (40K) to your hard drive. The file is in the form of a Stuffit Self Extracting Archive which means that when you click the download link a menu should appear asking where you want to save the uncompressed file named “nunacom". Choose the desktop.
Installing the Nunacom font
Now that you’ve downloaded the font, you need to install it. Drag the font file “nunacom" over the (closed) “System Folder” located on your hard drive. A dialogue box will tell you it is directing the font into the appropriate part of the System Folder -- click “OK.”
You may need to restart your browser in order to view pages with the “nunacom” font. You should not have to restart your computer.
