Healthy Foods North

The association is actively involved in the ‘Healthy Foods North’ project in partnership with the GNWT Department of Health and Social Services and the Beaufort Delta Health and Social Services Authority.  The flagship project was initiated in Nunavut and our Nunavut executive members are highly involved with this initiative – The ‘Healthy Stores Project’.  It is anticipated that the NWT project, and the community interventions designed as a result of the initial findings, will lay the ground work for similar initiative in the other NWT regions.  The project while producing community nutrition scans, looks at individual and community food frequency and factors affecting food security.

International Congress of Circumpolar Health (ICCH) 2009

Plan to attend the 14th ICCH, July 2009 in Yellowknife.  The association is presently involved with the planning of the congress and members will be actively involved as volunteers throughout the week of the congress, and in the various activities planned in addition to the scientific program.  Yellowknife has hosted 3 national CPHA conferences and promises a good time in the ‘land of the midnight sun’!
