Celebrating CPHA’s Centenary

Join us in celebrating public health. Be part of it!

The Canadian Public Health Association is marking its centenary and will be hosting its 100th Annual Conference in 2010. On the occasion of its centenary, CPHA is working to increase awareness of the role of public health in Canada.

CPHA was founded by a group of doctors in an effort to strengthen communicable disease control and prevention. Constituted through an Act of Parliament, the Association has evolved remarkably over the years, reflecting and shaping the broader evolution of public health in Canada.

Great Public Health Achievements

Since the early 1900s, the average lifespan of Canadians has increased by more than 30 years. Twenty-five years of this gain are attributable to advances in public heath. There are several public health achievements that led to this remarkable feat and these will be celebrated during the centenary.
